First Aid World Day

On each second saturday in September, the First Aid World day takes place in most cities of the Czech Republic.

It is always organized by Local Branches of the Czech Red Cross with the help of the Emergency Rescue Service, Fire Service, Voluntary Fire Brigades, Police, City Police, Water Rescue Service, Dog Rescue Service and Mountain Rescue Service.

No matter, if bad weather or not, the main squares or football stadiums of many Czech cities are occupied by volunteers who demonstrate on masked dummies how to provide First Aid, how to use a cardio-stimulator how to take blood pre pressure or bandage various injuries. People can also see a dog rescue operation, modern fire service equipment, and many other things.

Last year, the First Aid World Day was organized together with the campaign “Children’s Safety on Roads”. People could see an imitated car accident caused by children and then they were instructed how to provide First Aid in such a case. All participating children were given safety reflex stripes as a small gift from the Toyota Company.
