Norms of First Aid Knowledge and Skills

The Czech Red Cross provides the following First Aid training of children, young people and adults:

Young Health Service Officer, Level I and Level II (9 and 13 hours)
The training is tailored for pupils of elementary schools. After the training is completed, first aiders take part in competitions of “Watches of Young Health Service Officers” organized for them.
Health Service Officer of the CRC – Junior (20 hours) (HSO-Junior)
This norm is prescribed for the youth aged 16 – 18, secondary school students, members and non-members of the Czech Red Cross Youth.
Health Service Education of Applicants for Driving License (6 hours)
The scope of health service education of applicants for driving license, including a practical test in First Aid, is defined in Ordinance No. 55/1991 Coll., On the Training of Drivers and on Improving their Expertise.
The Basic Norm of Medical Knowledge (12 hours) (BNMK)
The Czech Red Cross is a holder of the European First Aid Certificate (EFAC) regarding the basic norm of medical knowledge which was awarded to it by the European Commission on February 11, 2000 in Brussels.
Health Service Officer for Recovery Programs (40 hours) (HSORP)
The Czech Red Cross has been accredited this norm by the Ministry of Youth, Education and Physical Education. Under Act No. 258/2001 Coll., On the Protection of Public Health, those trained in this norm are allowed to provide health service to participants in recovery programs.
Voluntary Nurse of the CRC (40 hours) (VN)
Those trained in this norm are allowed to provide health service in various events.
Instructor of the CRC (30 hours)
This norm is designed for voluntary health service officers who are willing to train other volunteers and who do not want or are unable for certain reasons to complete the basic course. However, they have to undergo the obligatory training in order to be able to obtain the norm of an instructor – BNMK, VN, HSORP or HSO.– Junior.
Medical Instructor of the CRC (56 hours)
Medical Instructor is the highest norm of the First Aid knowledge in the Czech Red Cross. People who obtain this norm become lecturers with regard to all of the lower degrees of First Aid norms.
