Logo Českého červeného křížeThe Czech Red Cross is a humanitarian civil association which is active in the whole territory of the Czech Republic. In its activities, the Czech Red Cross concentrates on humanitarian work and on the provision of health services and social care.

At present, the Czech Red Cross has 70,381 members working in 1,712 local groups.

The Czech Red Cross is the only internationally ratified National Red Cross Society in the Czech Republic which has been recognized by the state. It is an organization formed to support the Military Health Service within the intention of the Geneva Conventions.

Its position and main objectives are regulated by Act No. 126/1992 Coll., on the Protection of the Czech Red Cross Emblem and Name, and on the Czechoslovak Red Cross.

The Czech Red Cross was recognized by the International Committee of the Red Cross on August 26, 1993, and on October 25, 1993 it was admitted into membership of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies

The Czech Red Cross continues the work of its predecessors - the “Patriotic Society for Aid in the Czech Kingdom.” (established on September 5, 1868) and the Czechoslovak Red Cross (established on February 6, 1919).
